Catherine recording at Hard Studios Winterthur, Switzerland

We just launched a crowdfunding campaign for the recording of the Complete Cello Works that Catherine Marie Tunnell has made at Winterthur Hard Studios in conjunction with Mode Records of New York.

The works include the cello sonata L’Exil Intérieur (with pianist, Ian Pace) and the solo works Das Andere, Lux Animae and Pre-Existing Soul of Then. All of these works have been recorded for the first time for the cello.

Other recordings for cello will be released soon in conjunction with various artists and will be released even sooner if we can raise more than the amount needed for the first disc.

As rewards for your support, we are selling limited editions of some of Radulescu’s art works as well as originals of posters of his performances including many Lucero Festival posters dating back to 1992 in Paris. Other rewards such as a variety of scores of his works at a special discount price and a documentary DVD of Radulescu can be bought on Kickstarter.

Please help us in supporting our crowdfunding campaign for the Complete Cello Works recording. In doing so, you will help Radulescu get performed more and enable the edition, Lucero Print, to make more of his works available to the general public.

Thank you for reading.

Go grab your CD on Kickstarter now !!

Catherine Marie Tunnell and Horatiu Radulescu 2008

Hello and welcome to Horatiu’s Radulescu’s Website and his Publisher, Lucero Print where you can find most of his works to order or to rent. Also available are audio extracts for some of his works to give you an idea about which oeuvres you would like to perform.

Horatiu first set up Lucero Print in the 1980’s as he was finding it increasingly difficult to find an editor who was able to take on the challenge of type-setting his great variety of syntaxes that he used in ever-varying, different-sized ensembles. He wrote for solo instruments right up to large Symphony orchestra. The task of promoting these works and his ground-breaking oeuvres using his spectral composition technique of which he was the founder and main developer during his life time was also a challenge to most publishers.

Since Horatiu’s untimely death in September 2008 at the age of 66 I have worked with many musicologists to make Horatiu’s music available to all and to promote performances of his works. Bob Gilmore (2015 ) Harry Halbreich (2016 ), Antonio Lai and Dr Sam Dunscombe to name but a few who have helped me on this journey to achieve my goal. It has been a long haul of archiving his works and making them available for the general public but finally I feel that with the launch of his new website created by Joanie Waelti we are getting closer to our goal.

A little bit about myself

I am Catherine Marie Tunnell, Horatiu’s widow and CEO of Lucero Print.

Along with Dr Sam Dunscombe we have archived and are in the process of making most of Radulescu’s works available through his edition.

I am a professional cellist and play as 2nd principal cellist with l’Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne since 1998.

Before arriving in Switzerland with Horatiu I was principal cellist in Württemberg Chamber Orchestra in Heilbronn, Neusser Kammerakademie and performed as guest co-principlal with London Symphony Orchestra under Sir Colin Davis. I was the recipient of the 1st prize of the International Vienna Competition and the Taylor Cello Competition in London as well as receiving many grants including a DAAD scholarship for postgraduate studies in Germany. During my career I have particpated in numerous international festivals for both contemporary and mainstream music performing a lot of Radulescu’s works for cello solo as well as many of his ensemble works.

Most recently I gave masterclasses with the Jack Quartet at the Lucerne Festival with the Lucerne Summer Academy in 2013 in preparation of Radulescu’s 4th String quartet which was performed live for the first tine since it’s creation.

I would like to really encourage you to support Lucero Print so that we can help Horatiu’s music be performed more frequently and recorded in the future to ensure his much-deserved eternal memory in the history of music.

I look forward to you being a part of our journey.
